Data and Methodology

The data available on this website include contributions of $100 or more to in-office representatives and political committees in Pennsylvania from 1/1/2001 to 4/24/2012 (through Cycle 2 and the April primary, including the 24-hour donation reporting in the days preceeding the election).  The data include contributions recorded by the Pennsylvania Department of State (DOS) but do not include contributions to candidates for local, municipal, and other offices who were not required to file contribution reports with the DOS during this time.

Download our standardized datasheet to see all contributions (including those made to candidates and representatives not in office) and original DoS data.

This most recent update was released on July 11, 2012 and adds donations made from 1/1/2011 through 4/24/2012. Additional late 2010 donations were added that were not available at the time of the last update (early 2011) due to the DoS being backlogged in entering paper filings.

Contributions included in this dataset are limited to those made by the political action committees (PACs) of companies (or their parent companies) with a profit interest in Marcellus Shale drilling and those made by executives of these companies, along with related trade groups advocating for the development of Marcellus Shale drilling.  Contributions made by lower level employees were not included.

All data was retrieved from the Pennsylvania Department of State.
